Coralyn Kaufman

After a long, brave battle with cancer Coralyn A. Kaufman, 85, ran through heaven’s gates into the arms of her savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 17, 2023. She was born on Sept. 22, 1937, in Evanston, Illinois, to Sidney and Eva Dillinger. A memorial service took place Sept. 21, 2023, at Harmony United Methodist Church in Mankato, Kansas. The following day, on Sept. 22, 2023, a graveside service was held at Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas.

Coralyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kaufman; parents, Sidney and Eva Dillinger; and her sister, Rosalie Menhusen. She is survived by her daughters, Sara (Scott) Doberer and Julie (John) Wilson; brother, Rollin Dillinger; and grandchildren, Ryan Doberer, Kristen Doberer, Kayla Wilson, Cole Wilson and Kelsey Wilson. 

From an early age, Coralyn discovered her love for singing. She sang in many choirs and played the organ where she could glorify God and participate in fellowship with others. In addition to her musical endeavors, Coralyn was actively involved in numerous organizations that were close to her heart.She dedicated her time and energy to groups such as United Methodist Women, VIM (Volunteers In Mission) and PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization), and she supported many overseas missions as well.

Coralyn attended Kansas Wesleyan University before studying nursing at the University of Kansas. She met and married her husband Robert Kaufman. After a year they moved to Arizona where they welcomed their daughters Sara and Julie. 

Coralyn enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse – working in many different areas of nursing, she especially enjoyed Labor and Delivery. Coralyn was first and foremost a wife and mother. She supported her daughters in their activities and made sure they received a college education. Her compassionate nature was reflected in her decision to become a registered nurse – a profession that allowed her to care for those most in need during their times of vulnerability.

Outside of work and community involvement, gardening brought immense joy to Coralyn’s life. Her grandchildren affectionately knew her as “Grandma Apple Tree.” Bluebirds also held a special place in Coralyn’s heart.
