Corleen “Corky” Walker of Mesa, Arizona, passed on to her heavenly home on Dec. 19, 2023, at the age of 92. Born on Oct. 29, 1931, in Central Heights, Arizona, she was the daughter of William Walker and Florence Baker.

During WWII, at the age of 11, she began working to help support her family, and at the age of 15 she married Charles “Chuck” Evans Jr. Together, they had two children, Leona “Lee” Louis and Charles “Rick” Evans, who were born and raised in Globe, Arizona.

After raising her kids, Corky moved to Phoenix, where she married Kal Mestrovich before retiring from a 20-year career at US West Communications. During this period, she enjoyed, among others, traveling, golfing and becoming a grandmother.

Once retired, Corleen loved spending more time with her ever-growing family. She delighted in preparing big family meals, playing cards and volunteering at her neighborhood community center. In her later years, her faith grew stronger when she returned to the Lord by attending church, reading the Bible and leaning into prayer.

Corleen is survived by her son Rick Evans; her grandchildren Scott, Kari, Jennifer and Nick; her great-grandchildren Rick, Scotty, Carson and Tanner; and many great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Corleen was preceded in death by her daughter Lee (late John) Louis; sisters Roberta “Bobbie” (late Ivan) Warren and Jeanie (late Cliff) Pace; and half-brother Carl Curtis “Mitch” Walker.

Corleen will be remembered for her lovely sense of humor and beautiful smile.
