Henry Gus Colvin Jr. passed away Dec. 12, 2023, at the age of 88 at his home in Prescott Valley surrounded by family after a battle with liver cancer. Henry was born in Globe, Arizona, in a little house on Devereaux Street across from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church to Henry and Lucy (Barraza) Colvin.

Henry grew up in Ruiz Canyon, where he made many lifelong friends, and attended Globe High School, graduating in 1953. During his lifetime, he travelled across the country working for companies such as General Motors and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. After returning to Arizona, Henry joined Operating Engineers Local 428 as a heavy equipment operator and surveyor. He worked on several notable Arizona projects: the missile sites near Tucson, Palo Verde Power Plant, raising the smokestack in Hayden and the Grayhawk Development. There were also numerous road construction projects including I-17 near Black Canyon City, I-10 Salome and I-15 St. George, Utah. He had been a member of Gila County Search and Rescue. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and rockhounding. He was a member of the Roadrunner’s Prospector’s Club.

He is survived by his wife Judy, sons Chris Colvin and Patrick (Connie) Colvin, daughters Wendy (Tim) Gaynor and Angela (Kenneth) Buchanan, grandchildren Brianna (Bryan) Cooper, Christa Colvin, Kayla Colvin, Steven Earven and Zechariah (Christa) Colvin, and great-granddaughters Chasity and Kenna. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lucy Colvin, granddaughter Shaina Colvin and grandson Joshua Earven.
