Jerry Temanson was welcomed into Glory with a celebration of heaven’s fireworks on the 4th of July. Very fitting for an extraordinary man full of inspiration, adventure, dreams, ideas, great humor and many, many projects!

“Jerry was a very upbeat individual with a positive outlook on life, a very active person always challenging himself and encouraging others to be the best they could be. Jerry took delight in helping others,” said a friend.

He thoroughly enjoyed baking bread and pies, making cheese and wine, and sharing both food and knowledge with others. One of his favorite adventures during the Christmas season was transforming into a jolly Santa Claus. Some of his projects included making cigar box guitars and lefse sticks, building canoes, sewing using one of his treadle machines, creating fishing lures, canning food, soap-making, ceramics, planting almost anything, raising turkeys, learning about bees, mushrooms, making a violin…”There is basically nothing Uncle Jerry has not done,” said a niece.

He wrote several informational booklets on “Cheese,” “Eatable Mushrooms,” “Wheat into Flour,” “Cactus and Mesquite Bean, Wine, Beer and Vinegar.” He also wrote a book designed to help individuals with learning disabilities, “A Guide and Workbook for Counting Musical Notes.”

Jerry was born in Moorhead, Mn. on April 30, 1945 to Kermit and Annie Temanson. He was the middle of 5 children and grew up on a farm instilling his great love of plants. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking in many places including the Appalachian Trail. He worked in construction and education. He was an accomplished musician who loved traveling. He founded the English for Children Foundation in Poland, starting one of the first English-speaking schools there, and co-authored several Polish-English booklets. He was given an International SMILE award, presented to those “who have shown love, care and aid for children.” He also taught band and music in various other schools including San Carlos and Globe. He was always happy to hear from, keep in touch with and visit former students.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Darvin and his sister Nancy. He is survived by and is greatly missed by many dear friends and loving family members; wife Jaymie, daughter Michalina, brother Leslie, sister Carol, aunt Ardell, sister-in-law Sharon, nieces, nephews, cousins and special pet Cocoa Joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
