John Saban laid down his working tools on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023. Born Nov. 19, 1935, John overcame immeasurable obstacles and accomplished phenomenal feats. Serving in the US Army, he found his passion for land surveying. He fondly remembered his time spent as an engineer with the Arizona Highway Department and the City of Globe. He also owned and operated John Saban Surveying and Engineering. Much of his spare time was filled coaching local youth baseball and volunteering for numerous charities. He was proud to be a Mason, serving as a past master of the White Mountain Lodge #3. Later in life he could be found seven days a week on the golf course. He was a fun grandpa, teaching his grandchildren how to golf and enjoying popsicles and tea parties in his backyard.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Jo Merle, parents Ilija and Milica Saban, brother Dan and sister Zorka Schlegel. John leaves behind his son Steve and daughter Carrie Guerena (Mark); grandchildren Mark Andrew, Tiéra, Darin and Karlee Jo; great-grandchildren Jace and Bentley; and sisters Nedda Norris and Olga Wiesner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his beloved cat, Mo.
