Louis Fodera

Lifelong resident Louis Fodera passed away peacefully at his home Saturday morning, Aug. 12, 2023. He was a young 95. Until the age of 93, Louis continued to operate his tractor and frontend loader around his Wheatfields home.

Louis was the oldest son of Joe Fodera, Sr. and Cande Berumen-Fodera. He was born and raised in Claypool, Arizona.

Louis took a two-year leave from Miami High School to serve his country in the US Navy, aboard the USS Wharton. Upon his discharge, he returned to MHS to graduate with the class of 1949. He married the love of his life, Patsy Ruth Aneas.

Louis and Patsy lived in their Wheatfields home for 72 years. They were blessed with 4 children. The two of them worked hard together. They owned and operated the Monte Carlo Tavern in Claypool, Arizona. They also owned and operated Joe’s Place and the Globe-Miami Speedway Racetrack in Wheatfields.

Louis retired from Gila County as a heavy equipment operator.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patsy, his son Joedy, brother Joe and sister Evelyn.

He leaves behind three daughters, Valorie Ashby (Jimmy), Vickie Teague (Leo) and Vonda Dalton (Rex). He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. There are also many extended family members in the local area.
