Bolinger, Mancha, Fane win primaries

In UNOFFICIAL results released by Gila County, Jesse Bolinger defeated Gary Goetteman in the Democratic Primary for Globe Regional Court Justice of the Peace. Bolinger had 948 votes, while Goetteman had 930.
In another close race, Ruben Mancha (947 votes) defeated Ray Tarango (844 votes) in the Democratic Primary for Globe Constable.
Mike Fane ran unopposed in the Republican Primary

GHS football team holds kids’ camp, readies for opener

Stabbing near Bear Tree Crossing

Globe -- On Saturday, Aug. 23 at approximately 9:10 p.m. the Gila County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred in an RV trailer located at Beer Tree Crossing in Globe.

Globe -- On Friday morning at Gila Community College, the Arizona House Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources held a field hearing to discuss proposed regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Globe City Council OKs $254,000 bid for elevator at Center for the Arts

Globe -- At its meeting on Aug. 12, the Globe City Council unanimously approved a $254,000 bid from TSG Constructors in Phoenix to build a new elevator at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts. Mayor Terry Wheeler, James Haley and Lerry Alderman did not attend the meeting.

Break-in at Miami pool results in injuries, $10,000 in damage

Miami -- A recent break-in at Miami's Hostetler Pool has resulted in a cost of more than $10,000 to the town.

School Board approves $200K in improvements

Miami -- After hearing a laundry list of needed improvements of the district's buildings and facilities, the Miami School Board at its Aug. 11 meeting approved $150,000 in capital projects and $50,000 in maintenance costs. Board president Paul Licano and board member Margret Celix did not attend the meeting.
