Sheriff’s Office files murder charge

Gila County -- On Nov. 21 at approximately 12:32 p.m., the Gila County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting an altercation that had occurred on Nov. 20. Deputies responded to a residence located in East Verde Estates, north of Payson, and found a male deceased.

Body of slain police officer escorted through Globe

The procession for Show Low police officer Darrin Reed made its way through Globe on Nov. 9. Reed, a 10-year veteran of the Show Low Police Department who was set to retire in February, was shot and killed on Nov. 8 when he responded to a call in Pinetop-Lakeside. Gila County -- Gila County saw an impressive voter turnout, as 70 percent of registered voters cast a ballot in the Nov. 8 General Election.
In the three contested Gila County races, two challengers won their races, while one incumbent kept his position.

Runners compete at state meet

Globe cross country coach James Simmons is pictured with runners Akala Hatch and Logan Robison, who both competed in the Division 3A State Meet on Saturday at Cave Creek Golf Course. Hatch finished 84th out of 204 runners, while Robison placed 101st out of 211 runners. Congratulations to both runners on great seasons.

Mexico City-based Mexico, Grupo Mexico, owner of the ASARCO Copper mines here in Arizona, has released its third quarter results ending Sept. 30, 2016.
