Light Parade winners announced

Globe -- Despite Mother Nature failing to cooperate, a successful Main Street Light Parade was held on Saturday evening.
The theme for this year's event was "Broad Street Glitters." Sponsors of the 2014 Light Parade were the Historic Globe Main Street Program, KQSS Gila 101.9, Arizona Public Service, Canyon State Wireless, Palace Health Mart Pharmacy, Hollis Cinemas and Ortega's Shoes.

Motorcycle Ministry partners with Destiny School for holiday food drive

Globe -- The Heaven's Saints Motorcycle Ministry partnered with Destiny School for its third annual holiday food drive to benefit families in need in the area.

Defense spending in state fell $1.7 billion in 2013; industry looks to future

Washington, D.C. -- Defense contracts awarded in Arizona fell by $1.7 billion between 2012 and 2013, buffeted by the federal budget sequestration, a drawdown of U.S. military commitments and a sluggish economic recovery.

Resolution land exchange passes House

Superior -- The Resolution Copper land exchange, which is among some 70 pieces of legislation bundled into the new proposed 1,648 page long National Defense Act, was on Friday passed by the U.S. House of Representatives by a 300-119 vote.
As of press time, the legislation is expected to go before the U.S. Senate and voted on Thursday or Friday.
