Globe Fire Dept. announces new extrication tools

The Globe Fire Department recently placed a new set of extrication tools in service. The Hurst eDraulic spreader and cutter were purchased using grant funds from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety. Teen pregnancies down 36 percent in Gila County since 2003

Globe -- The Gila County Board of Supervisors held a regular meeting at the Gila County Courthouse in Globe on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
The board voted unanimously to approve an amendment to an existing intergovernmental agreement between the Arizona Department of Health Services and Gila County, which will provide funding for teen pregnancy prevention programs in Gila County.

Verdugo charged with manslaughter

Globe -- On Thursday, Jan. 8, Robert Verdugo, 27, of Globe, was arraigned on manslaughter charges in connection with the 2010 stabbing death of Scott Johnson, 26.
The arraignment came about after a Grand Jury on Dec. 3 found there was enough evidence to file charges. A warrant for Verdugo's arrest was then issued that day, and he was arrested
