GLOBE At a regular meeting of the Globe City Council on Monday night, the council discussed the possible changing of their meeting schedule. City Manager Kane Graves made the suggestion to the council, noting that due to the new four-day work week, preparing for the upcoming meeting during a short week will put a strain on the staff. Graves suggested that the council meet twice a month rather than four times a month. I think that this will make for better staff reports and make it easier on the department heads, said Graves.
The council was at odds with this idea. I have a problem with this, because Im a strong believer in transparency for the council, said Mayor Fernando Shipley. Shipley strongly felt that the council should keep the four-meeting schedule to make sure the public has enough time between meetings to voice opinions on certain actions.
