Globe — Globe’s tax rate is projected to remain virtually the same for the 2013 budget.
The rate for 2012 was $1.3233 and for 2012 it will be $1.3200 for a budget total of $24,397,000, which is up only $72,000 over last year. Careful planning by all departments leaves the city in good condition, according to City Finance Director Theresa Williams. She and City Manager Kane Graves received accolades from council members on the job they did in preparing the budget. Williams in turn complimented department heads and others who worked with her to plan for next year. Only Councilman Mike Humphrey questioned anything. He asked about the size and kind of track hoe which is being considered for purchase. He wanted to know what it would be used for, considering the $100,000 expenditure.
Williams replied that she will get back to him with the specifics.
Councilman Haley noted that there is twice as much money budgeted for the Active Adult Center as there is for recreation in general for the entire city, but then asked if the difference was because of grants to the Seniors and the answer was yes.
