Globe — Last Tuesday about 4 p.m., Mayor Wheeler called the Arizona Silver Belt and other news media to let them know that the water from Well #1 had tested clear and it was no longer necessary to boil water or to use an alternate source.
It is not clear if there was ever really anything to worry about, but the City, acting in the best interests of the community, did everything necessary to follow ADEQ guidelines just in case.
According to Globe’s Water Facilities Supervisor Jerry Phillips, the sequence of events occurred thus: Friday, Sept. 21, a random test, as required, was taken down to the testing facility, Test America.
The test came back Monday, Sept. 24, positive for E. coli.
The public was alerted. That same day, Monday the 24, the city sent five more samples from Well #1 to Test America and one more test to an independent testing company. For the complete article see the 10-03-2012 issue.
