Brent Billingsley has been offered the position of Globe City Manager.

Globe — At a special meeting held Thursday evening, the Globe City Council held an executive session to select one of 10 top candidates for the position of City Manager. After an hour of executive session, the Council returned to the chambers and reconvened to inform the public of its decision.

Councilman Desmond Baker moved to offer Mr. Brent Billingsley of the City of Maricopa a contract as Globe’s new city manager. Vice Mayor Eric Mariscal seconded the motion. With a unanimous vote (Councilman Mike Humphrey was absent) the council agreed to offer Mr. Billingsley the position at the regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 19. Billingsley will officially start on Jan. 2, 2013.

Prior to this, Councilman James Haley moved that the rules be waived to allow the council to take action on the item. This motion was seconded by Lerry Alderman.

James Haley told those present, “We’ve really worked our tails off,” attributing to Billingsley the hope of “a new breath of vigorous leadership.”
