Globe — After starting off the school year with increased enrollment and decreased bus service, the Globe Unified School District might be on its way to delivering its students a little more promptly and a little more safely.
Lee Kinnard, director of transportation and maintenance for the district, told the board of directors last Wednesday that enough bus drivers have been hired to fill all current vacancies.
All bus drivers are required to undergo a lengthy process from when their application is approved by the board until they can get behind the wheel of a bus full of children.
The applicant must be fingerprinted to determine that they are not a threat to the children. They undergo training in CPR and first aid. They are subjected to a medical exam and then must attend 14 hours of classroom training with a crash instructor. For the complete article see the 10-02-2013 issue.
