Miami — The financial state of the district’s athletic programs took center stage at Monday night’s regular meeting of the Miami Unified School District Governing Board.
Under New Business was an agenda item to raise the ticket price for football and basketball games from $3 to $4 ($2 for students).
Business manager Lisa Marquez explained to the board that often times, the district loses money when hosting athletic events. That’s because just one official for a game can cost more than $100.
“We’re not running in the red, but we want to avoid that,” Marquez said.
