GHS Cheer team reflects on state championship season

Miami continues busy season with strong showing at Apache Junction

Miami -- Miami High School Wrestling has been busy traveling to different school throughout the state to compete with as many programs as possible.
Head coach Radke said "this being our first year back, I feel it is important to get as much mat time as possible," adding that the mat time is what ultimately develops better wrestlers.

Globe’s Burgener named all-state on offense and defense

Payson -- On Jan. 22, Globe High School Wrestling traveled to Payson Invitational for a grueling two-day tournament.
Other teams attending were Yuma, Show Low, Williams Field, Highland, Fountain Hills, Coconino, McClintock, Snowflake, Payson, Coolidge, Round Valley, Sierra Linda, Thatcher, Gilbert, Barry Goldwater, Estrella Foothills, Santa Cruz, and Parker.

GHS Spiritline prepares for state meet

Globe -- The GHS Spiritline is preparing to go to the AIA State Spiritline competition on Jan. 23 at Grand Canyon University.
GHS Spiritline competed in the AIA State Qualifiers Spiritline Division II Coed Competition on Nov. 14 at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. There were a total of 17 schools competing in Division II Coed.

Lady Vandals fall to Cibecue

Cibecue -- Keisha Bowser and Aimee Hockaday combined to score 36 points for the Lady Vandals, but the Miami girls basketball team fell 58-54 at Cibecue on Jan. 5.
Bowser finished with 19 points and 3 rebounds, while Hockaday registered a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Tiger Girls Basketball takes fourth in Chandler Prep tournament

GLOBE -- The Tigers girls basketball team started out the year strong with a fourth place finish at the Chandler Prep New Year's Classic Tournament Dec. 28-Jan 2.
Globe tallied wins over Hayden (42-38) and Chandler Prep (30-25). In the victory against Hayden, senior Timecah Cosen led the Tigers with 13 points followed by junior Cedar Randall with 11.
