Globe cross country competes in Horizon Honors meet

Phoenix -- The Globe cross country teams competed in a meet hosted by Horizon Honors (Phoenix) on Sept. 14.
There were 123 runners who competed in the boys meet, which Gilbert Classical won. Globe placed fifth out of 11 teams.
Gilbert Christian won the girls race, which had 77 runners. The Globe girls finished seventh out of eight teams.

Lady Tigers extend win streak to 4

Bethanie Hudson and Leah Rios and the Globe volleyball team are now 4-2 after defeating San Carlos and San Manuel last week. The Lady Tigers also own a four-match winning streak. This week, Globe plays at Miami on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Tombstone gets best of Miami football

Tombstone -- The Miami football team suffered a 38-14 loss at Tombstone on Friday night.
Athaniel Spurgeon led Miami with 114 rushing yards, while Diego Garcia fought off multiple injuries to have a solid game both offensively and defensively.

Tigers now 4-1 after win over San Manuel

Globe -- The Globe football team celebrated Homecoming on Friday night with a 30-6 victory over San Manuel at Harbison Field.
The win improved Globe's record to 4-1. The Tigers are now third in their region -- Division 3A Central.

Globe -- Globe High School hosted a multi-team cross country meet at Old Dominion Mine Park on Friday, Sept. 2. The meet consisted of Globe, Miami, San Carlos, San Manuel, Ray, and Combs high schools. Globe won the boys meet, while Combs won the girls meet.

Lady Vandals defeat Lady Tigers in four sets

On Thursday evening at Globe High School, the Miami volleyball defeated team defeated Globe in four sets. Miami's next home match is Friday, Sept. 9 against Pima. Globe hosts Superior tonight. Globe and Miami play one another again on Sept. 22, when the Lady Tigers travel to Miami.

Saenz leads Miami to victory

Miami -- Miami quarterback Zabe Saenz played a great game against on Alchesay Friday night, with 12 carries for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns and 80 passing yards to go along with 2 touchdown passes. The Vandals survived a fourth-quarter scare to defeat Alchesay, 42-40.

Globe cross country team sees impressive turnout

Globe -- Tigers Cross County is off to a running start with 36 students this year. It's one of the largest turnouts Globe High School has seen in years, coach James Simmons told the Silver Belt.
Simmons has previous experience coaching and running cross country, but this is his first year coaching cross country for the Tigers.
