Price, Avalos perform well at Let’s Talk Fishin’ Bass Tournament

Roosevelt -- On an almost rainy day at Roosevelt Lake with a water temperature of 59 degrees (warmer than the air temperature of 45 degrees), the third of seven Let's Talk Fishin' Bass Tournaments took place.

Tigers host Copper Cities Tournament

The Globe boys basketball team hosted the annual Copper Cities Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Tigers started well, defeating Superior (52-44) and Florence (48-43). Globe then lost its final three games of the tournament, to Pima, Morenci and Apache Junction. The Tigers play at Combs on Thursday. Robotics recognized as official AIA sport

Globe -- Erik Hertwig, coach for the TigeRobotics team at Globe High School, informed the Silver Belt last week that the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) has officially recognized FIRST Robotics Competition as a state sporting event.
AIA will host the first-ever FIRST Robotics state meet on May 23, 2015.

Globe gets best of Miami in rivalry game

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Globe girls basketball team registered a hard-fought 33-29 win over archrival Miami. Jolene Quitano had a strong game for the Tigers with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kaitlin Case had 9 points for Globe, while Cedar Williams had 9 rebounds. The Tigers and Vandals also competed in last week's Copper Cities Tournament, held in Globe.

GHS Wrestlers excel at tournament

Pima -- Eleven teams competed on Dec. 5 and 6 in the Gila Valley Wrestling Tournament held at Pima High School. The Globe Tigers placed 4th behind Wilcox, Thatcher and Pima.
