MIAMI — The Lady Vandals were in great shape on Tuesday, March 2 as they took on the Pima Roughriders. The Lady Vandals built up a strong lead early in the game. At the top of the fourth, Miami was already up by five runs with Pima at bat. Miami’s pitcher was hot as she continued to throw one strike after the other. The top of the fifth remained scoreless for Pima.
In the bottom of the fifth, Pima put in a new pitcher, but it did not phase the Lady Vandals, who scored another three in the inning. At the top of the sixth, Miami was ahead 9-1, leaving little hope for Pima. Pima’s first batter hit a hard ball that bounced in front of second base. The Vandals caught the ball and made the out at first. Two more strikeouts put Pima back in the field. Miami’s first batter started things off in the bottom of the sixth with a single. It was followed by a long drive up center field for a double. A second double brought all runners home to finish with a score of 11-1, which ended the game. The Lady Vandals will play Hayden next.
