Roosevelt ― Once again this year, Payson has been chosen as the host town for a FLW bass fishing tournament. This coming Sept. 22-25, 2012 the National Guard Western Series will return to Roosevelt Lake. This tournament will be the last opportunity for anglers to qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup Tournament.
An “FLW Day in Payson” is planned for Saturday, Sept. 18. This is the day before the first pre-fish day. The event will be held at Green Valley Lake in Payson. Activities will start around 10 a.m. and go until 8 p.m. There will be a family free fishing day at Green Valley Urban Lake, a fun zone, fishing demonstrations throughout the day with fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, food, etc. vendor booths.
In addition, the National Guard Bass Fishing Team as well as other top anglers will be on hand for a “media session” which will be broadcast live. In the evening, a band will perform in the amphitheater where there is also a dance area, so bring your family and a blanket for a great time in the “cool” rim country of Payson.
The pre-tournament meeting will again be held at the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino on Tuesday, Sept. 21 and the final day weigh-in will be at the Payson Wal-Mart. The final weigh-in day will also boast booths, fun zone, an FLW stage, band, etc.

Entry fee for a pro angler is $2,000 and for a co-angler is $350. Remember that you only need a small deposit to reserve your place for the tournament.
