Globe — The hot sun beats down, the smell of freshly cut grass hangs in the air and the constant shouts of young men and their mentors can be heard from all around.
The Globe High School football team is getting in another practice, using this down time to prepare for the upcoming season.
Under the guidance of new head coach, Al Ocompo, and assistant coach, John Rafail, the guys are confident that they are ready to give their all and kick off the season.
Senior Johnny Renteria was more than happy to say: “We’ve been putting in a lot of work. I think we’re where we need to be and just looking forward to start the season.”
His fellow senior classmate, Tristen Burgett, agreed, saying: “We’ve pulled together as a team and come a long way. We’re definitely going to try to keep the copper kettle.”
The boys have been practicing for over a week and will be putting on a scrimmage soon; the date is to be announced.
