Modified: Tuesday, Oct 1st, 2013

Globe’s Trinity Jones jumps to put the ball over the net in a match against Miami on Thursday, Sept. 26. The Tigers beat the Vandals in four sets: 24-26,26-24, 25-22, 25-21. Jones came up with the match winning point in the fourth set.

Globe —  Although every set was close, the Tigers were able to beat the Vandals in four sets on Thursday: 24-26, 26-24, 25-22, and 25-21.

“The girls stayed determined,” said head coach Katie Lorenzen. “The credit goes to them; they stayed aggressive, they were going for balls and they kept their errors down. That made a big difference from tonight and the rest of the season.”

In the second set, there were nine lead changes and 10 ties. With the score tied at 17, Miami made two illegal hits in a row that eventually cost them the set. The Tigers’ gym was filed with Vandal fans. Miami brought a big crowd with them and they were much louder than the Tiger crowd.

“They wanted to defend their home court and they stayed determine to do that until the end,” Lorenzen said.
