Tigers take down Eagles in 3 sets, despite short bench

Posted: Tuesday, Oct 8th, 2013

The Tigers set up a play against the Eagles from Imagine Prep. Globe would go on to win the match in three sets; 25-11, 25-10, 25-21.

Globe — In a match that lasted 49 minutes, Globe made quick work of Imagine Prep, beating them in three straight sets; 25-11, 25-10, 25-21.

After handling the first two sets with ease, the third set didn’t come so easily for the Tigers. Globe started off with a 16-5 lead, but then perhaps got too comfortable and let the Eagles come back and score 10 points in a row.

Imagine Prep would tie the game at 21 and that would be as close as they would get.

“We broke down in our passing and had too many serve receive and hitting errors in the third set,” head coach Katie Lorenzen said. “Passing and lack of communication really hurt us as well.”

In the second set, which only lasted 14 minutes, Tigers scored 14 points in a row; all under the serves of senior Savannah Barajas, which went along with her 10 aces.

Senior setter Kelsea White had nine kills and led the team with .533 hitting percentage and outside hitter Jenika Garcia had 13 digs. The Tigers were playing with only three substitutes on the bench, but Lorenzen only played two of them.
