Earline Horrell Tidwell, 76, of Globe and Tempe, died May 3 at Chandler Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 13, 1936 into a Gila County Pioneer Ranching Family. She had lived in Arizona for 74 years. She was raised in Globe and graduated from Globe High School in 1954. She then went on to graduate from The University of Arizona in 1958. She married James M. (Jim) Tidwell in 1959.
Together, they owned and operated the Half Diamond Cross Ranch and the Cross P Ranch, where they raised their three children. She also spent many years as an elementary school teacher.
Earline was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Blanche Horrell and her husband, James.
She is survived by her three children, daughters, Cindy Shelton (Frank) of Tempe, Debbie Taylor (Ted) of Gilbert and her son, Jim Tidwell (Kelly) of Tucson. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Katie Hoefferle (Dan) of Tucson, Brandon Tidwell and Josh Tidwell of Tucson, and two great-grandsons, Landon Hoefferle and Cade Hoefferle of Tucson.
She had been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gila County Historical Society, Tuesday Book Club, Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Arizona National Livestock Show and Arizona Historical League.
She was an avid University of Arizona alum and volunteer. While in the ranching business, she and her husband were active in the Gila County Cattle Growers and the Arizona Cattle Growers Association.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday May 11, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S.
