Pete Guzman, Sr. was born in Hayden, Ariz. on Feb. 17, 1927. He was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ on July 24, 2013.
Pete leaves behind four boys, Peter Jr. (Robbie) from Queen Creek, Ariz., Ysidro “Chito” from Winkelman, Ariz., Jesse (Margie) from Globe, Ariz., and Aaron from Florence, Ariz. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pete was one of 12 siblings, nine boys and three girls born to Francisco and Maria Guzman: brothers, Frank, Nixie, Andy, Teddy, Yscaac, Marro, Abe and Felix; and sisters, Paula Rodriguez, Julie Martinez, and Mary Ann, who died at birth.
He attended all of his schooling at the Hayden Unified School District, and was a Hayden High School graduate. Pete was a military veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 1 in Phoenix, Ariz.
After his military duty he married Anita Montano from San Pedro and worked as a general supervisor for ASARCO at the smelter for 40 years until his retirement in 1986.
He really enjoyed gardening at his home. He loved watching sports on TV and even attending MLB and NBA games. He supported all Arizona sports teams, but his favorite hobby was playing golf.
He also enjoyed spending time with his four sons and family. He had many friends and will be dearly missed.
Services were held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Parish in Hayden, Ariz.
Interment with military honors was at Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden, Ariz.
