GLOBE — Bob and Susie Hollis, of Globe, owners of Hollis Cinema 4, will be honored by the Arizona Small Business Development Center Network (AZSBDC) with the 2010 Small Business Success Award. In total, 13 small businesses from throughout the state of Arizona have been chosen for this year’s award. Award winners worked with an AZSBDC Network Center to achieve their goals and were chosen for their outstanding economic performance during 2009.
Hollis first learned that he was up for the award from Ron Nielson, Director of the Gila Community College Small Business Development Center, with locations at Payson, Globe, and San Carlos. Hollis has been working together with Nielson and the program for approximately three years now. Nielson began working with Hollis after being referred by Dr. Steve Culling. Hollis, whose theater was destroyed in 2005 as the result of damage caused by a fire in an adjoining building, was one of Nielson’s first business contacts in the area. Together, they worked out a business plan and a market assessment to analyze the ability of a multiplex theater to succeed in the area.
According to Nielson, “ultimately, Hollis Cinema 4 was chosen as the top project in Gila County based on the established criteria of job creation, employment, investment, economic performance, and other factors.”
