Globe ― Despite being visible from the heavily traveled road below, Globe’s own botanical garden has grown over the years into a hidden treasure of blossoming beauty. Located on Jesse Hayes Road beneath the Globe Community Center, the botanical garden offers a large variety of native cacti species. Spend an afternoon in this little garden, making use of the shaded picnic tables and grill. The garden also is home to various animal life. Watch lizards race across the stone walls and see cardinals perch above in the trees. Recently, city workers even found a hummingbird nest in one of the pine trees.
The botanical garden is not large, but offers a pleasant escape into the beauty of the desert. Extend the day with a visit to the Besh-ba-Gowah ruins above.
Who says there is no color in a desert!
