Globe — On Friday, June 15, the Pinal Mountain Elks Lodge #2809, together with representatives of the VFW Post #1704, Boy Scout Troop #101, and Pinal Mountain Emblem Club #554, honored the American Flag with a public Flag Day Celebration. Flag Day was June 14.
The program began with the posting of the colors by the VFW and American Legion Color Guard.
Elks’ Exalted Ruler Shaya Rodriquez welcomed those assembled, reminding everyone of the importance of the flag as the symbol of the progression of America. Together with Elk officers Debbie Edwards, Gayl Overgaard, Matt Bishop and Dianne Encinas, Rodriquez presented the Flag Day Ritual.
