31,617 registered voters in Primary Election

Posted: Wednesday, Aug 8th, 2012

Gila County — Final figures are in. There are 31,617 registered voters in Gila County who are eligible to vote in the Aug. 28 primary election, according to Gila County Recorder Sadie Tomerlin. The break down includes 11,881 Republicans, 11,315 Democrats and 8,421 Independents or Others.

The County Recorder said 15,144 early ballots were sent out Thursday, Aug. 2 in the mail to all of the voters who were on the Permanent Early Voting List. Tomerlin notes there are a few registered voters who are Independent or Party Not Designated who did not specify which ballot style they would like and she says they will not receive a ballot until the County Recorder’s Office hears from them. Tomerlin says the Recorder’s Office will continue to mail out earlier ballots as people request them, but again, those registered voters who already requested an early ballot, some 15,144, had theirs mailed out last Thursday. All early ballots must be returned to a polling place or the Recorder’s Office at the County Courthouse in Globe by 7 p.m. on Aug. 28.
