Dear Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to inform the Globe community that as of June, I resigned as Band Director, Journalism Instructor, Student Council Advisor, World History teacher, and Assistant Track Coach at Globe High School. It was with a heavy heart that I made this decision and it was not one that I came to lightly.
It was my goal to spend the bulk, if not all, of my career in Globe serving my community and my amazing students. Recent administration changes and some major uncertainties with the overall direction of the district led to my decision to leave.
It is extremely difficult for me to imagine my career without the students I have come to love and respect the past three years. I was able to work with the best and the brightest that Globe had to offer and for that, I am very thankful.
I want to send a special thank you to all those who donated their time and/or money to help the music program the past three years. A special, sincere thank you goes to Mrs. Marylyn Halverson for all she did for my students and the music program within the district.
Mr. Paul Allinson and Mrs. Lois Shay are also due an extreme amount of credit for all the success we had as a program. They sacrificed hours, money, and time away from their families to support our students. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Finally, I can’t thank my family enough for their support over the past three years. My mom, dad, and sister have always been there for me and they are the reason why I am in any way successful today.
I would like to wish the new director, Mr. Thompson, a ton of luck. He has inherited a superior program and a great group of students.
I know with his expertise, he will take the band to the next level.
Thank you to everyone for the support and I hope my path leads me back to my alma mater again one day. I hope I am able to come back in a capacity that allows me to make long lasting, positive change; change that puts students first. Thank you all for everything you have done for me and for my students.
Kindest Personal
Regards,
Richard Franco
