Our family would like to take a moment to express our gratitude toward coach Jeremiah Johnson of the Miami Vandals football team.
Coach Johnson coaches everyone on the team, not just a select few. He cares about his athletes as people, not just performers. My son, Chumlee Sawyer, No. 58, took a hard hit at practice last week and suffered a head concussion as a result of it.
Coach Johnson came to the hospital and sat for hours waiting on the test results. He sat right by Chumlee’s bedside and did not leave when the doctors came in and told us that Chum was going to be OK.
That speaks volumes about the type of coach he truly is. Johnson is always telling all of the players that they are a family, and that family always comes first. Coach Jeremiah Johnson is an amazing coach and he strives every day to make a difference in the lives of these young men, both on and off the field. Thank you, Coach Johnson, for all that you do for the youth in our community.
