Globe — Globe Fire Chief Al Gameros recommended approving an intergovernmental agreement with Miami to provide the town fire protection. This will be the ninth renewal, although the time limits have changed. Early in 2009, the first agreement was for three months. It was later changed to six months and last year it was for a year, as is this recent one.
Miami will in turn pay Globe $1,000 a month plus $450 per hour for any responses. Globe has responded to a Miami situation 16 times since April of 2009. The City of Globe has received more $10,500 in the past year, which goes into the General Fund.
Both parties have the option to opt out of the agreement with 30 days notice. For the complete article see the 09-26-2012 issue.
