Globe — It was a night of great inspirational story-telling as the 2012 Globe High School Hall of Fame inductees were each recognized for their accomplishments both in high school and after graduation. Twenty inductees were honored in the second annual induction ceremony held Monday, Sept. 24 in the Globe High School gymnasium. Master of Ceremonies, Eddie Lopez, of the class of 1993, introduced each inductee with a summary of his or her accomplishments before the inductees were called forward to accept a plaque recognizing the distinguished contributions these 20 individuals made to Globe High School and society.
The evening began by recognizing the inaugural inductees, many of whom were present. A special presentation was made to one Hall of Fame class of 2011 inductee, who was unable to attend in person last year. Jimmy Lopez, the U.S. Marine and Globe graduate who fought to protect the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and helped rescue over 50 people before being taken a prisoner of war, received his plaque as well as a standing ovation from the more than 200 guests at the banquet.
