Area high school students attend education fair

Students from local high schools enter the Freeport Training Center for a post secondary education fair held last week.
Globe — High school students from all area schools attended a post secondary education fair sponsored by the Gila County Education Service Agency and Freeport-McMoRan on Oct. 30. The event was held at the mine’s training facility in the Cobre Valley Plaza.

Busload after busload of students arrived from Miami, Globe, San Carlos, Superior, Hayden/Winkelman, Young and also the alternative schools in those areas to visit with the representatives from more than 50 organizations.

There were representatives from community colleges, trade schools, universities, institutes, and employers who train. Organizations such as APS, Globe Fire Department, the U.S. Forest Service, Freeport and others who offer training were well-represented.
