Senior Timothy Johnson lays it up for San Carlos against Miami last Tuesday.

Miami — Last Tuesday the Vandal basketball team took on the Braves from San Carlos at Miami High. Coached again by veteran San Carlos coach, Terry Antonio, who has been working hard on preparing the boys for this upcoming season, the boys, both younger and older, are without a doubt flourishing under the direction of the fine coaching staff that has taken on the task of guiding these young men through the game of basketball.

Despite some tough oppositions on behalf of the Vandals, the Braves were able to secure their first win of the season with a final score of 44-32.

The boys’ speed and quick thinking were no match for the Miami Vandals.

The talent of the upperclassmen, especially Timothy Johnson, led the team to victory.

Johnson led the team with 19 points, followed by CJ Dalmacio with 11, RJ Talkalai with 6, Alfred Thorne with 4, and Demetrice Victor with a three-pointer.

The Vandals struggled with quite a few foul calls from the officials at first, but after they found their groove the boys began to play a little more strategically, thus putting more heat on San Carlos.

San Carlos scored 11 points in the first quarter, 7 in the second, 8 in third, and 17 in the fourth.

In the end, the Braves took the win with a score of 44-32.

Congratulations Braves!
