Globe — John Naylor, CPA and long time auditor for the City of Globe, gave the Globe City Council a clean audit report on Monday. “Clean” means the council is living within its budget despite a $600,000 loss of revenue due to the cancellation of RedFlex.
Naylor gave the council two recommendations to help save some money in the future, which they are going to need to do not just because of the RedFlex loss but because the state is putting more responsibility on cities and towns.
The first recommendation was to not be late with their payroll deposit. This has not happened since 2003 and there is a 10 percent late fee when it happens. Taylor said this occurred when the city was switching over to a new computer system, but it was a costly time issue.
The other recommendation was also due to time. The city had to pay $18,800 due to late billing from the county on a CDBG grant. This was the first time this has happened. The city had to provide the funds to finish a grant because the billing was not received in time. For the complete article see the 11-28-2012 issue.
