Gem & Mineral Show celebrates 55th year

The Gem and Mineral Show celebrated its 55th year this year and was dedicated to the memory of Louisa Barber, a longtime member of the Gila County Gem and Mineral Society who passed away in 2012.

Globe — This year’s Gem, and Mineral Show was filled with discovery and dinosaur fossils and tiny geode caves opened to display sparkling crystals as it has been in the past.

There was also something a little different, however, as children tugged on their parents’ hands hoping to guide them to the next exciting find while others gazed at the gems — already wearing them in their minds.
