Sally Ann Becker, 74, passed away at her home on Feb. 5, 2013. She was born in Claypool, Ariz., on Aug. 21, 1938, the daughter of Rose (Piggins) and Art Lucas.
She attended Miami schools and had fond memories of her Vandal volleyball team during high school. She married Robert “Bob” Becker on Nov. 12, 1955.
Sally enjoyed her sewing and crocheting as well as many other crafts. She worked for many years as a volunteer at the Globe Salvation Army Thrift Store and in doing so knew the importance of charity and helping others less fortunate and in need.
Above all the most important thing to her in this world were her grandchildren. Every young grandchild and great-grandchild knew exactly where the bin of toys was at Grandma Sally’s house, and that would be the first thing they would head for. If they found something special in that wonderful toy bin, it went home with them and that made Grandma Sally extremely happy to see a smiling grandchild with a toy clutched in their little hand. Grandma Sally will always hold a special place in her grandchildren’s hearts.
She especially loved her animals, and her cat “Sammy” was at her bedside when it was time for her to leave this earthly home. Sally leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Robert “Bob” Becker; four children, Denise (Harold) Holmes, Mike Becker, Troy (Charlene) Becker and Tommy (Clara) Becker; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ward Lucas, Bob Lucas, Jimmy Lucas and Billy Lucas; and sisters, Carolyn Curbey and Cheryl Lucas-Hawkins. Grandma Sally will always be with us.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 844 W. Sullivan St., Miami, Ariz.
Rosary followed at 10:30 a.m., with Mass at 11 a.m., both at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament.
