Recently, my mother-in-law, Arda High of Globe, passed away after a long illness and a lot of special care.
Being a military officer, and married to Arda’s daughter Jenefer, I had the prestige of being her favorite son-in-law.
Unfortunately, being stationed around the world we couldn’t visit very often, but would always hear about the great care and support she would get from the local community and agencies that look after senior citizens.
There is one local program that was/is incredibly important that took care of her daily, and that’s the local Meals on Wheels program. Arda was confined to the house, and every day there was a smiling face that would knock on the door and deliver a meal.
There were many days that would be the only food that she would have to eat, and without such a vital program and volunteers there would probably be many citizens who would probably go without a meal on a daily basis. When I visited Arizona recently I had the chance to thank the great people who worked with the program, and also saw that they could always use extra support in donations of any sort.
I’m keenly aware of how tough things are in the economy, but I’m also aware of how great the local citizens can be! Being from the military, we know the importance of programs, and this is one that could use your support! You never know when you’ll need the Meals on Wheels program to support your family or friends, so thank you for taking care of my mother-in-law. The family will always be indebted to all of you!
