Congratulations to Marc Marin, publisher of the Arizona Silver Belt, regarding the exclusive social fraternity that produces nothing for Globe-Miami. They prefer to make themselves look good at our expense.
I can truthfully say that Stan Gibson is a community supporter and know him as a person that would prefer the Citizen (of the Year) award go to a citizen like Molly Cornwell.
The exclusive social fraternity agenda is the same and will never change until Globe City Council, Town of Miami, and Gila County withdraw financial support.
Economic development is a big joke. I was employed in administration with the City of Globe under two city managers, Steve Stratton and Manoj Vyas. Both worked to improve the economic base of our city. With their support, we were able to improve our economy and jobs. We brought in ACE Hardware, two “dollar stores,” Sonic, and Auto Zone. The social economic fraternity tried to claim credit.
Our City administration played a big part in developing Days Inn and, at the time, Holiday Inn Express, now Comfort Inn. I still remember Steve Stratton’s words, “let’s make a deal.”
