Myron Bruce Adkins, 86

Myron Bruce Adkins, age 86 of Roosevelt, Ariz., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at his home in Roosevelt, Ariz. He was born July 30, 1926, in Chandler, Ariz., to the late Van Andrew and Myra J. (Childress) Adkins. He came to faith and was baptized when he was 11 years old in November of 1937, at Hearn, Texas.
He joined the Merchant Marines when he was 16 years old. On June 20, 1958, he married Charlaine Mileham at Gallup, N.M.
Bruce owned and operated an accounting business in Winslow, Ariz. for 25 years. In 1982, he graduated from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary with an Associate of Divinity. He entered the mission field as a Church Starter and built four churches in Montana. Upon his retirement from the mission field in 1994, Bruce and his wife traveled in their RV throughout Baja, Calif. He ended his retirement and became pastor of the Roosevelt Baptist Church. He preached his first sermon in the new church sanctuary and three souls were saved. He also spent many of his days hunting and fishing, two other hobbies he dearly loved.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Charlaine, of Roosevelt, Ariz.; sons, Tad and his wife, Pam, of Phoenix, Ariz., Bruce (Bee) and his wife, Cathy, of Porter, Texas, and Laree Carlson of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Roosevelt Baptist Church in Roosevelt, Ariz., with Pastors Keith Wilkerson and Jerry Yount officiating. A reception luncheon will be held immediately following the service. Funeral Services for Myron Bruce Adkins were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Globe, 237 S. Sutherland St., Globe, AZ.
