Globe — New details have been released by the Department of Economic Security in the alleged murder of 3-year-old Nathaniel Lopez by his mother’s boyfriend on March 26, 2013.

Lopez was transported to Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center by paramedics after they received a call about an “unresponsive child.” Medics at CVRMC observed visible bruising and trauma all over his body. According to the report, Lopez had “swelling to his face and head.” The report also describes bruises of “different shapes and in different stages of healing” on the boy’s face, right chest, left hip, both thighs, both legs and other places on his body. Furthermore, the boy had bruising on his forehead and around both eyes. A CT scan of the cranium revealed, “new and old bleeding in his scalp area” and a chest x-ray revealed an “old clavicle fracture and infiltrates in his lungs.”

Nathaniel died later on March 26, 2013 at Phoenix Children’s Hospital at 4:15 p.m. as a result of his injuries.
