Armida Renteria Cons joined her loving son Manuel R. (Chalanga) Cons in paradise on Thursday, April 11, 2013. She was 78 years old.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1934 in Bisbee, Ariz. to Epigmenio and Amelia Renteria.
Armida married the love of her life, Manuel, on Sept. 13, 1952, celebrating 60 years of blissful love. They moved to Globe in 1963, where they settled to raise their four children. They loved Globe and were surrounded by many friends and family members. Armida enjoyed life raising her children, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo, Blitz and going to the casino. She enjoyed singing and dancing with everyone. She was loved by everyone who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her son, Manuel R. Cons; her parents, Epigmenio and Amelia Renteria; and her brothers, Frank and Gilbert Renteria.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Manuel L. Cons; her son, Leon Cons, Sr. (Juli); her daughters, Lulu and Amelia, and Yvette Baxley (Travis); eight grandchildren, Leon Jr., Lennette (Brandon), Lindsey (Vincent), Aaron (Amy), Anthony “Juju,” Jimmy, Tyler and Brandi; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, April 19, 2013 at Holy Angels Church in Globe. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with Mass at 10 a.m. A luncheon will follow Mass at Holy Angels Parish Hall.
