Bylas community meeting attracts hundreds

Bylas District elders, Shirley Titla and Clarissa Charley recently helped members of the Bylas community circulate petitions to request for Dr. Theresa Covello to continue her clinical services at the Clarence Wesley Health Center in Bylas, rather than being transferred to the San Carlos Service Unit at the San Carlos Indian Hospital. Patients were declaring that they deserved an answer to the sudden transfer of one of their favorite doctors they have become accustomed to.

BYLAS MASTER PLAN – WATER AND SEWER INFRASTRUCTURE

Councilman Kitcheyan said there are HUD guidelines and homes have to be built where the land is stable. There were three sites identified. One was back here behind Rainbow City, Navajo Point and outside of Bylas. We looked at the water, electricity and sewer and the prime location is where the new homes are by Mount Turnbull and where the new school is $6.2 million was awarded that last year and since 2010 we’ve been going through negotiations with USDA, I.H.S, and we should be complete 100 percent hopefully by this December 2013.
