Globe — Beginning about the third week of May of first week of June, several streets in Globe will be chip sealed. Streets and areas designated for improvements are: Escudilla from U.S. 60 to Pinaleno Pass; Hackney from U.S. 60 to Gleason; Maple from Third to Sixth; Sixth from Maple to School; East from U.S. 60 to Maple; Linda Vista from Hunter to Cul de sac; Amarilla from Linda Vista to Cul de sac; Blazer from Crestwood to Prospector; Maple from Hill to Third; Skyview from U.S. 60 to Skyline; Agave from Skyline to Sanders; and Skyline from Yucca to Skyview.
These 13 locations total 2.86 miles. The city was able to increase by 50 percent the area covered due to a cooperative purchasing power process with the City of Peoria. Based on the area covered the rate will be $3.89 per square yard of material with the total amount not to exceed $200,000. Cooperative purchasing also allowed the City of Globe to begin work immediately rather than going through the long bid process.
According to City Manager Brent Billingsley, traffic traveling on the new surfaces can do so within five minutes after the seal has been placed.
