Golden Hillís place in Globe-Miami history

Golden Hill was given its name due to the abundance of Mexican poppies that once covered the area, giving it a golden look.


Miami ó Why would anyone put a cemetery in the middle of a residential area? People who move here seem to eventually ask that question about Pinal (Central Heights) Cemetery. The answer is that Golden Hill used to be the main road between Globe and Miami and there were not that many houses along the way. Old timers (older than me) have told me because there were so many poppies along the road, it was called golden.
