Marion “Allene” Powell, 84, died on Saturday, May 11, 2013. She was born on Nov. 11, 1928 in Ralls, Texas to Harley and Viola Nunn.
She was married to Bill Powell and moved to Globe in 1969. She has six children: Peggy (Lyle) Miller, Bill (Sue) Powell, Chuck (Virginia) Powell, BJ (Kathy) Powell, Kent (Chiu) Powell and Cheryl (Kanoa) Powell.
She leaves behind a sister, Barbara (Monte) Larson, and a brother, Rocky (Gayle) Nunn.
She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Shane Powell, Lynn Stewart and Scott Shimimoto; also two brothers, A.B. and Junior Nunn; and three sisters, Verna Witman, Elverta Norvell and May Dickison.
She has 20 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Allene worked for Pete’s Country Store and A.J. Bayless from 1969 until she retired. She loved Elvis, crossword puzzles, solitaire, the color purple, reading novels and the Enquirer.
She was a wonderful cook and her specialty was southern cooking. Allene always had a smile on her face. She was full of energy and always ready to have fun with her family. She was a loving mother and very proud of her Mormon faith.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered by everyone she loved.
