Johnny David Castaneda, 64

Posted: Tuesday, Jul 9th, 2013

Johnny David Castaneda was born Aug. 14, 1948 in Miami, Ariz. to Abraham, and Dalia Castaneda. After attending local schools he went to work for Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company at the age of 18. Johnny retired from mining after 14 years and then opened his own roofing company, JC Roofing.

As a young man, Johnny had a love of horses. He started bareback riding, and bull riding. He made the 8 second ride many times, winning buckles and many jackpot rodeos. He also enjoyed going riding with his cowboy buddies after he hung his hat up from the competition level.

Johnny met Debra Dee Tucker when she was 15 and on July 17, 1968 they were married and started a long, wonderful life together. Johnny was very proud of his two sons, John Castaneda, Jr. (JC), and Mark Castaneda. JC has three children: Debra, Justin Castaneda and Brendan Coleman. Mark has four children: Brittany Porter, Brandon, Michael, and Bailee Castaneda, and one grandchild, Carson Porter. Johnny had three brothers, Abie, Bobby, and Benny Castaneda, who preceded him in death, along with his parents.

In January of 2003 Johnny received a liver transplant which gave him another 10 productive years of life with his friends and family.

On July 2, 2013 Johnny was reunited with his family in the Lordís House. He will be missed by many, and will never be forgotten. We will miss you, and know that you will save us all a place with you. Rest in peace, and God bless you.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Holy Angels Catholic Church.

Interment was at Globe Cemetery in Globe, Ariz.

Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
