Bullion gym gets new roof

The City of Miami was given a check for $140,000 Wednesday by BHP to go towards the restoration of the Bullion Plaza Gym. Castaneda and Barnes accepted the check on the city’s behalf. BHP is only one of the companies that have donated. Others include: Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc., APS and the Phoenix Suns just to name a few. A grand opening celebration is expected to take place in October.

Miami — Once again, the Bullion Plaza was the center of attention Monday night during the Miami Town Council meeting. Mayor Rosemary Castaneda acknowledged $310,000 in grant money to be used for the former school gymnasium.

BHP recently wrote a check for $140,000 to refurbish the gym. Another $75,000 will come from the Phoenix Suns/APS.
