Miami — Antique and classic cars lined Sullivan Street Friday evening. Brought to town as part of Miami Tire and Auto’s grand opening celebration, the cars were wonderful additions to the last Music in the Park event for this year.

As Joe Sanchez and his band tuned up for the town’s closing concert, people strolled down the street admiring the vehicles and chatting with their owners.

Merle Grossman was applying a micro fiber cloth to his 1958 Chevy panel truck. He had encountered a cloud burst at the Top of the World. Luckily there was no more moisture falling from the sky by the time he arrived in Miami.

His truck was painted bright yellow with rows of little flames hugging the vehicle’s lower front end. He calls his truck “Old Yeller.”

Grossman said the truck used to be used for delivery. There were few options on it. It was obvious that the vehicle, which Grossman believes was initially purchased by a company in Tucson, was strictly for business.
