High Desert Volleyball took on the San Manuel Miners on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The eighth grade team (bottom right) lost in straight sets, 25-16 and 25-18. They did, however, win the third set, 15-12, which was played for sportsmanship. The seventh grade team (left and top right) celebrated their first victory of the season. After losing the first set, 15-25, they fought right back to win the second set, 25-17. The third set was much closer, and after many attempts to close the out Miners, the Tigers finally won the set, 17-15. Afterward, the girls rushed the court to celebrate. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the girls battled Miami Junior High. Both grades lost in straight sets, but the third was played for sportsmanship. The seventh grade girls lost, 18-25, 18-25 and 15-13. The eighth grade girls lost 18-25, 16-25 and 11-15. The girls have four matches left, which are very important if they are going to make it to the CJHL Tournament in October. Their next match will be at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, at home against Hayden.
