Random act of kindness

Posted: Tuesday, Sep 24th, 2013

Dear Editor:

Being in a hurry one recent day, I inadvertently left my purse in a shopping basket in the parking lot at Fryís and didnít notice until I got home.

I called to check if, by any remote chance, someone had turned it in and was told that a customer had. When I went back to claim it, the woman at the customer service counter graciously retrieved it for me.

I asked her if she got the name of the customer. Since everything was present and accounted for, I would have loved to personally thank the kind soul. She was simply described as ďa young Native American woman.Ē I walked through the store to see if anyone of that description happened to still be in the store but could not see her.

I just want to let that person know how much I appreciate her honesty and kindness. It not only impacted the quality of that day but each day that I recall the event and the reaction by each person I have mentioned it too.

You renewed my faith in humanity and well as that of others who heard the story. Truly, what we do each day has a ripple effect on the world.

That effect can be either negative or positive.

I am so glad you chose to practice a random act of kindness ó not only because I was relieved to get my purse back but because of the value your actions added to society. I know your kind behavior will come back to you.
